3… 2… 1… Contact Me! Getting Email Stealthy For My Sanity!
Have you noticed in the past couple of months and weeks that the number and types of emails you receive from salespeople have all shifted their sales tactics? (like they all went to the same email marketing seminar).
For some reason, this really irks me. Now, I am to blame, because I have gotten my email out there for my own purposes, but the recent blowback to me from people selling crap in my area is enormous.
The most recent thing is to write to us as though we already are having a conversation, while we’ve never chatted. Here are the subject lines and headers in the email I typically am receiving daily:
“Dan, Just Following Up On Our Conversation”
“Dan, Quick Question”
“Just following up on my last email”
I guess I deserve to get this type of email because I get on their lists. What I am pointing at is the hyper-personalization and assumptions that all these salespeople are making about me are a bit of a waste of time. I am setting myself up for this failure! I am a B2B person, so much of this is not the consumer that gets these types of emails.
