AI Bots + Bing = Google Chaos
It was all inevitable, like that Terminator quote we hear, “It’s Judgement Day”. But this day is not a fantasy.
There is a storm brewing in the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) biz. And it’s not necessarily intentional or an evil plotline. It’s just a matter of the convenience of the circumstances related to the recent delivery of ChatGPT by OpenAI.
A series of technological innovations combined with a complacent Google, relying on their coat-tails of being a search engine monopoly, and the only real game in Organic Search or Search Engine town for the past 15 years (we call it “barriers to exit”) are creating a situation that will produce a different outcome shortly in the SEO game.
There is a storm coming that will either force Google to change its search offering or leave the door open to a competitor, potentially multiple competitors, kill natural search as a viable option or lead to something completely different. Either way, by the end of 2023, the landscape will change.
Rumor is that Google has shit its pants and called in the big guns internally, getting all of Alphabet to dial into HQ to deal with what they see…
