Backlinks… Why #Startups Need To Take Notice.

My mind starts with a Paris cafe, where I would rather be right now…but I am here in sunny South Florida writing about backlinks and SEO!

I have been in and around the tech startup world in South Florida for the past 20 years and the one thing a tech startup can not ignore is something free, something amazingly good that few know about, and a secret way to get something few can get!

My history in search engine marketing really starts back in 2001. In the few internet years before Google took over everything, we were doing SEO. We were doing it for our speed dating website Pre-Dating.com, when nobody knew what SEO or Google search was about.

Around 2006 I went back and got my MBA. I even did a thesis on domain tools, which is highly related to SEO. I could not make all the connections back then. There is a slight difference between Tech SEO and On-Page SEO. On-Page SEO is all about content. Tech SEO is about speed, size, meeting Google guidelines, DNS, and a dozen other techie stuff.

As a tech startup, trying to get all the juice they can out of Google, you need to know something about this online marketing stuff, especially SEO. I’ve read recently that 43% of capital raised for startups in 2021 went to Google and Facebook ads.

Come on people, is that the only way to get traffic these days?

Paying for Google Adwords is a shortcut in Internet terms. You need to at least get all the free SEO content and traffic first… Just an opinion, if you don’t want your startup to go belly up. If you are impatient about getting business, you probably should not be creating a tech startup.

The elephant in the room and one aspect that most digital marketers really don’t get is “backlinking”. It’s not that they don’t get it, it’s just that there are so many other “technical” and glitchy things that need to be right, that by the time you consider getting yourself of client’s great backlinks, you are dead...

Well, let’s just stop right there!
