It's not that PHP is so great, trust me I written 100k lines of PHP code. It's that I have 20 years of PHP code lying around and most hack programmers like me (I am hardly a serious programmer), we don't want to recode it, as long as it works. I have a bunch of 5.3 laying around that needs to at least get to 7.x. Would love to move onto another language, but like your stats show, nothing is as universally transferable, cheap or available as PHP is now. I would move on if the world would move on. But it seems to be stuck, kind of like the FAANGs who control all innovation or no innovation now. The future seems to require a complete disruption starting now.
