What Is Startup POP?

Startup POP, which is located at http://www.startuppop.com is the result of a year experimenting with startup tech pitch events in South Florida at The Greenhouse in Boca Raton. I originally ran these events to find potential clients for a software company. Eventually I began consulting to the startups directly. My very first event using Meetup and Eventbrite resulted in over 100 attendees. One of the secret sauces to StartupPOP Events is the events are not about a speaker who will tell you how great they are. StartupPOP events are about the entrepreneur and their startup. We have a specific format, where up to 10 companies pitch for 3 minutes a piece in front of a panel of investors and mentors. Following the 3 minute pitches, the panel members can comment or gather information live for the audience. Everything is like a reality TV show, but right there in front of you. Because of our success in South Florida, we are expanding these events to New York City, New Jersey and Santa Monica, California. The events will all be run the same way. We were quite shocked when we created a meetup in New York and had over 50 people join our meetup in less than a week. Many thanked me. It is hard for me to believe there is no event like this in NYC right now. So, we will be there in late October going for it.
