Why I Am Personally Leaving Godaddy
Over the years I really appreciated Godaddy, mainly because they made it easy to buy domains.
But, if you are a technology professional like I have been in the past, there is less and less good I have to say about Godaddy. And what has really happened is with their growth and success, growing to be a Billion Dollar revenue company by the end of 2021, is they have forgotten their customers, they have and make recommendations to clients of mine that suck and are often less than average solutions. Their business now makes no sense at all to me to use and quite frankly their sh_t stinks. I can get into specifics below, but let’s just say the pandemic has taken their below-average customer service and turned it into horrible.
Years ago, when I was an employee at Verio/NTT corp, as the web manager, I used to read the founder of Godaddy’s blog, Bob Parsons. He was an ex-military type of leader who was really changing the world with Godaddy. Their irreverent logo, saying, “Go Daddy” was great branding.
I should have known when they crushed Verio/NTT with entering the hosting business around 2009, that Godaddy was a force to be reckoned with. Now I can see the full path to what they were after.
